Another approach would be to consider center weighted metering concentrating on the faces. Well more exposure is better than raising brightness in post (assuming lots of light so shutter speed and DOF not an issue) so I would dial in EC on the camera. I don't have much time to capture the shots I want, a split second at most, so set and forget is the most often used method for me, and the work comes later in DXO. If the end result is the same I have no issue just doing the work later in photolab if it means less risk of overexposure in day to day use. ![]() I would run the risk of blown out highlights that way though. Would setting the EC to +.50 to +1 achieve the same result as simply lifting in post? As far as I've read my R6 is essentially ISO invariant. None of the other metering modes make a difference, especially since my subjects can end up at the edge of the frame often. My main goal is to get skin tones to look half decent, usually they start out way too dark and unnatural (blotchy), due to the evaluative metering system weighting the background too heavily. 50 to +1.00 to the exposure slider in DXO to get a good starting point for the photos I take (primarily candid stuff with family and friends, usually outdoors in bright sun). I've found in the year since I got my R6 that I almost always have to apply +. This might sound basic, but I never bothered with EC until this past weekend.
